Driver following Obama daughters’ motorcade appeared lost source says

Washington – A law enforcement source has said that a man who followed a motorcade that carried the daughters of President Barack Obama through a checkpoint at the White House on Tuesday appeared lost and unfamiliar with the area. As reported by Reuters, the driver, an employee of the Internal Revenue Service was charged with misdemeanor unlawful entry in connection with the incident.

The source, who spoke anonymously due to the ongoing investigation, is quoted by Reuters as stating, “It appears at this point that the driver was confused, not familiar with DC, and essentially got lost and followed the car in front of him.”

The man, identified as Mathew Evan Goldstein, 55, was stopped and detained by Secret service officials. He was subsequently released on the condition that he refrain from going near a specified area surrounding the White House.
