Milwaukee – An estimated 32,000 Wisconsin residents have been identified as eligible for BadgerCare Plus through Obamacare exchanges. As reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, state Medicaid director Brett Davis said in a recent letter to federal officials that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services wrote last week that the eligibility of at least that many people had already been identified since key components of the health care law took effect.

As noted in the report, the early referrals represent a third of the estimated number of adults that the administration of Governor Scott Walker anticipated would sign up for state coverage due to the Affordable Care Act.

Davis is quoted as writing in correspondence with the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, “We are putting special emphasis on assisting current members with higher risk conditions to make sure they are aware of all their coverage options.”
