Chicago – The trial against the man accused of murdering three members of Jennifer Hudson’s family in 2008 has gotten underway. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, Hudson tearfully gave testimony on Monday for the high profile triple-homicide case.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of the sister of the singer and actress stands accused of murdering Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew in her childhood Chicago family home.

Hudson reportedly spoke of previously warning her sister about Balfour during her testimony, and is quoted as stating, “None of us wanted her to marry him… We didn’t like the way he treated her, and I didn’t like the way he treated my nephew.”

Balfour has pleaded not guilty in the case. If convicted, he will reportedly receive a mandatory life sentence due to being on parole at the time of the murders.
