A number of factors including car thefts, car crash fatalities, the time it takes drivers to commute on average, and the costs of insurance premiums were considered for determining which states would be included in the list. According to Bankrate.com “Not only does the Lone Star State have the most highways in the country, it also provides one of the worst driving experiences of all states.”
The website also declares of the state of Texas, “Texas failed to have any better-than-average ranking in the six categories in the analysis,” The crash rate for the state is said to be the worst with 1.42 deaths per 100 million miles. The national average is 1.11.
The site also says “Texas drivers also are 13 percent more likely to have their car stolen than the average U.S. motorist” and that Texas drivers “spend $88 more on gas each year and shell out an additional $22 per job when fixing their cars. Proceed with caution.”
