Oregon – Stacey Addison, a U.S. traveler in East Timor was released after a four-month ordeal following her arrest over a stranger’s drug package. As reported by WebProNews, Addison was being temporarily hosted at the home of former East Timorese President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Jose Ramos-Horta, following her release from prison, while awaiting the return of her passport.
Addison’s ordeal began after she shared a taxi cab with a stranger who asked the taxi driver to make a stop for a DHL package. She was subsequently arrested due to the package containing methamphetamine.
Addison’s mother, Bernadette Kero, is quoted as stating in an email to CNN of her daughter’s release, “The past four months have been an extremely stressful time for all of us…Of course we are now hoping that her passport will be returned and she will be able to return home to Oregon very soon.”
