Los Angeles – “Star Trek” actress Nichelle Nichols was detained at Los Angeles International airport after her male traveling companion was found with drugs. As reported by the NY Daily News, the 81-year-old actress who played Lt. Uhura on the iconic 1960s television show was determined to not have had any prior knowledge of the bag of meth, which fell out of the man’s suitcase.

Nichols was allowed to board her flight; however, the twentysomething male traveling with her was reportedly arrested for drug possession, according to TMZ.

A rep for the actress reportedly told TMZ that the man was her assistant and that what was discovered in his luggage was an e-cigarette and not meth.
