Texas – Allegations have been made by a nurses’ union that no protocol had been put into place for dealing with Ebola at a Texas hospital where a nurse contracted the virus. As reported by CNN, National Nurses United Executive Director RoseAnn DeMoro claimed Tuesday that the “guidelines were constantly changing.”
DeMoro is quoted as stating of the issue, “The protocols that should have been in place in Dallas were not in place, and that those protocols are not in place anywhere in the United States as far as we can tell… We’re deeply alarmed.”
Officials from the National Nurses United union did not disclose how many Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas nurses had discussed the allegations.
Wendell Watson, a spokesperson for the hospital is quoted as stating in regard to patient and employee safety, “We take compliance very seriously. We have numerous measures in place to provide a safe working environment, including mandatory annual training and a 24-7 hotline and other mechanisms that allow for anonymous reporting.”
