New York – Artist Maya Hayuk has filed a lawsuit against singer Sara Bareilles claiming her artwork was used for promoting the singer without permission. As reported by Page Six, Hayuk is suing Grammy nominee, Sony Music and Epic Records for copyright infringement over use of a mural that she painted on a building on the Bowery.

As noted in the report, the artist also filed a lawsuit against Coach, which designs clothing and apparel, over use of the same mural. The artwork titled “Chem Trails NYC” is a 60-foot-by-20-foot mural put on exhibit in February after being commission for Bowery Mural Wall.

Aaron Silverstein, an attorney for Hayuk, is quoted at stating to The Post of the artist, “Maya is an extremely prolific and hard-working artist… This is how she pays for rent and feeds herself, so when there’s a misappropriation of her work, it’s a big deal for her.”
