Connecticut – A lawyer charged in connection with an insurance fraud scam has been sentenced to prison. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Joseph Haddad has received a jail sentence of four years and three months according to U.S. Attorney’s.

According to prosecutors Haddad conspired with chiropractors and others as part of a scam to defraud insurance companies. They are accused of exaggerating client injuries and the costs of related medical care in addition to lying on medical records and performing chiropractic treatment that was not needed.

Prosecutors allege that the fraud cost insurance carriers $1.7 million in losses.

Two of the chiropractors involved were sentenced last week.
