Meth Lab in Ohio Nursing Home Sparks Fire—1 Killed, 6 Injured

Ashtabula, OH — A fire caused by a drug lab in a room of a nursing home resident killed one person and injured six others Sunday night, March 4, 2012. The fire began just after 8:30 p.m. at Park Haven Nursing Home, reported CBS News.

A lab that was making methamphetamine, a highly addictive illegal stimulant, caused the fire.

The fatally inured person, who remains unidentified, was the person who was making the illegal drug.

The deceased person was among the three residents and two non-residents who were rushed to the hospital as a result of the fire. Two others were treated at the scene.

Two men, who sustained burn injuries in the fire, are facing pending drug charges.

The identities of those involved in the fire are being withheld, until they have been charged and arraigned in municipal court.

Investigations are underway.
