Connecticut – A man who showed up to a meeting with his probation officer with 19 bags of marijuana hidden in a sock, was arraigned on Monday. As reported by Reuters, Darren Shelley, 22, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell in connection with the incident that occurred on June 9.

Shelley was set to meet with his probation officer in Stamford Superior Court on the date stemming from a prior arrest for drugs. His probation officer, Bronwyn Fisher, said Shelley denied having brought the drugs to the building, attributing the strong smell of marijuana on him to his brother having worn his borrowed sweatshirt while smoking.

The drugs were found in Shelley’s sock during a pat down search.

In the previous case, Shelley was charged and convicted of risk of injury to a minor, and sentenced to jail time. He was released in March and placed on probation for three years. Shelley’s probation may now be revoked in connection with the recent incident.
