Las Vegas – Police say two people fatally shot two police officers at a restaurant in Las Vegas on Sunday before killing themselves. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the shooter gunned down the officers while they were eating at a CiCi’s Pizza, then fled to a nearby Wal-Mart and killed a third person there. They exchanged gunfire with police before turning the gun on themselves.
Sheriff Doug Gillespie of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department is quoted by the AP as stating in a news conference on Sunday, “It’s a tragic day…But we still have a community to police, and we still have a community to protect. We will be out there doing it with our heads held high, but with an emptiness in our hearts.”
According to Gillespie, the female suspect shot the male suspect, and then killed herself in an apparent suicide pact.
Police were still investigating the incident at the time of the report Monday.
