Oregon – An Oregon family called 911 after being trapped in their bedroom by their cat. As reported by Reuters, the black-and-white Himalayan house cat was stated to have scratched a 7-month old baby in the face during the incident, then went into a rampage after being kicked in the backside by the child’s father.

Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sergeant Pete Simpson said the baby, the child’s parents, and their dog remained in the bedroom as the cat blocked the doorway screeching. The father of the baby reportedly told a 911 operator that the cat had a “history of violence.”

Officers apprehended the cat after arriving at the house and placed it in a travel-style kennel. It was left in the family’s custody.

The baby was reportedly not seriously injured in the incident.
