Tennessee – Attorneys for relatives of two people buried at the Galilee Memorial Gardens cemetery in Tennessee have filed a lawsuit alleging that the owners have been burying multiple caskets in one plot. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the complaint also accuses the cemetery of operating without proper registration.

The owner of the cemetery, Jemar Lambert, was arrested in January on charges of abuse of a corpse and theft. The arrest was made after three bodies were reportedly found to have been buried in the same grave without permission.

As noted in the report, the lawsuit is seeking class action status for people whose relatives were buried at Galilee since the time the cemetery’s registration was stated to have expired, Dec. 31, 2010.

The cemetery was shut down after Lambert’s arrest. A Nashville judge stated Monday that someone would be appointed to take over control of it.
