Washington – A warning was issued to airports this week over toothpaste tubes that could possibly contain bomb ingredients. As reported by Reuters, the United States issued the warning to some airports and airlines traveling to the Olympics in Russia.
As noted in the report, a senior U.S. security official did not specify the reason for the warning, which was not provided to the general public.
The Winter Olympic games are set to begin in Sochi on Friday. Russian forces are stated to be on high alert for potential militant attacks at the events. Fears of violence were raised following the deaths of 34 people who were killed by suicide bombers in Volgograd, Russia in December.
Volgograd is approximately 400 miles from Sochi.
