Oregon – A 19-year-old Oregon woman who was sentenced last week in connection with the deaths of two young girls playing in a leaf pile is facing deportation. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros will be held at a Tacoma detention center pending a bond hearing before an immigration judge, as stated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday.
Garcia-Cisneros was found guilty of two felony hit-and-runs after driving her SUV into a leaf pile and accidentally killing the girls, ages 6 and 11. She received a sentence of three years probation and 250 hours of community service.
ICE spokesman Andrew Munoz is quoted by the AP as saying in a statement regarding her immigration case, “The immigration judge will determine whether or not Ms. Garcia-Cisneros remains in detention for the duration of her immigration case.”
