New York – A reported meningitis outbreak has sickened several at Princeton University. As reported by AFP, the university is seeking to contain the outbreak after seven cases of meningococcal disease have been confirmed by the New Jersey Department of Health. Six of the cases are stated to involve students.

An experimental vaccine is purportedly being made available to Princeton by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. University officials say they are deciding whether it should be administered to students.

University spokesman Martin Mbugua is quoted as stating to AFP on Saturday, “This is a question we have been considering very carefully. We will be discussing it with our trustees this weekend, and when we have something to announce we will make an announcement.”
