Los Angeles – Food Network star Paula Deen has been fired amid controversy regarding her admitted past use of racial slurs. As reported by omg! the news broke about the popular chef’s firing after she posted two apology videos online. The first has since been taken down, but in a second one she apologized for missing a scheduled “Today” show appearance and addressed accusations that she is a racist.

Deposition statements were released earlier this week related to a discrimination lawsuit in which Deen purportedly admitted to having used the N-word and other actions, which sparked controversy.

The Food Network is quoted in the report as releasing the statement, “Food Network will not renew Paula Deen’s contract when it expires at the end of this month.” Deen has been with the network for over 10 years.
