New Jersey – The governor of New Jersey has signed a bill into law that legalizes online gambling. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Gov. Chris Christie signed the bill Tuesday following the passage of a revised measure by the state legislature.

Christie is quoted by the AP as stating of the measure, “This was a critical decision, and one that I did not make lightly… But with the proper regulatory framework and safeguards that I insisted on including in the bill, I am confident that we are offering a responsible yet exciting option that will make Atlantic City more competitive while also bringing financial benefits to New Jersey as a whole.”

The passage of the bill makes New Jersey the third state to legalize Internet gambling.
