Russia – An Arkansas couple who began adoption proceedings for a 5-year-old child from Russia prior to the country enacting a ban on adoptions to the U.S. has been allowed to take the young girl home. As reported by ABC News, the couple’s case was one of approximately 50 adoptions that had been allowed to proceed to be finalized after the ban began on Jan. 1.

Kendra and Jason Skaggs traveled to Moscow last month to finalize bringing their adopted daughter home.

Kendra is quoted as stating of getting to take the child home, “It’s a dream come true…There is still an unreal element to it. It hasn’t quite hit us yet that we have her and she’s ours.”

A number of Russian adoption cases for prospective U.S. parents are now reportedly in a state of limbo due to the ban.
