Phoenix, Arizona – Authorities are searching for an Arizona mother who removed her child from a cancer ward Wednesday night. As reported by ABC News, surveillance video was take of the 11-year-old girl who was being treated at Phoenix Children’s Hospital for leukemia and still had a catheter in her chest, leaving with her mother around 10:30 p.m.

Sgt. Steve Martos is quoted in the report as stating to ABC News affiliate KNXV Thursday night, “Our concern right now is for that catheter to be medically removed. We understand that there is the possibility that the catheter could get an infection and thereby result in the death of this child really in the matter of days.”

The full names of the family have reportedly not been released.
