US lawsuit filed for inflated troop trailer claims

US – The United States government has filed a civil suit over purported inflated troop trailer claims. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the lawsuit accuses Houston-based global construction company, KBR Inc., and its Kuwaiti subcontractor, First Kuwaiti Trading Co., of overcharging for costs pertaining to the installation of live-in trailers used as replacements for tents during the Iraq War.

Jim Lewis, the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois, is quoted b the AP as stating in reference to the case, “KBR and First Kuwaiti did not provide an honest accounting.”

KBR spokeswoman Marianne Gooch, is further quoted as saying in a emailed statement Tuesday in reference to the lawsuit claims, “We believe the government claims to be baseless and without merit… KBR has faithfully supported American troops in Iraq and has performed its work in support of the Army with professionalism and in full compliance with its contract and the law.”
