Dallas – A Dallas mother who glued her toddler’s hands to a wall and attacked her is facing life in prison. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the sentencing hearing for Elizabeth Escalona, 23, who pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the attack in July, began Monday.

Escalona’s two-year-old daughter was hospitalized for approximately a week following the incident in which the child reportedly sustained several injuries including bleeding on her brain.

Dr. Amy Barton, a former child abuse specialist at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, is quoted by the AP as stating, “When I think about the time involved in that and what that scene must have looked like, it’s overwhelming.”

The hearing will reportedly continue on Tuesday.
