We recently studied how to best grow cannabis in winter, but now let’s talk about which strains are best for cold weather cultivation. A large part of winter planting is with suitable strains. If you decide to use something that likes tropical temperatures, it will not survive for two seconds in a cold climate. There are many cold weather strains to choose from, and choosing the one that suits you best can be tricky. Therefore, I have compiled a list of the most popular winter varieties, hoping that one of them is ideal for your cold weather garden.

Northern lights

Let’s start with one of the most popular strains in the world, it happens to be ideal for winter growth. Although it is already a good cold weather strain, I chose the automatic flowering variety. Autoflowering plants have a shorter flowering time and skip the vegetative phase, which makes them more likely to survive winter. Due to its impressive Afghan genes, this strain is particularly hardy. Despite her strong personality, she may still need an indoor planting space in a very cold climate. If you want to grow her outdoors, a warm country with less harsh winters is still perfect. This kind of pressure has existed since the 1970s. If you want something that will never let her down, she is your girl. Her effect is an uplifting and relaxing full-body height, which is ideal for starting a new year. The THC level is around 14%, so she is strong but not overwhelming. She may also be one of the easiest strains to grow, so if this is your first time planting in winter, this is a suitable strain. She has a flowering period of 9-10 weeks and can be grown indoors or outdoors in warm climates.

White widow

Why only stay in an absolute legend, White Widow is another well-known and very popular variety, very suitable for winter growth. She is also one of the most hardy varieties on the market, this version is quick and automatic flowering. Her flowering time is extremely short, which gives her an advantage in winter. White Widow is known for being able to grow in almost any environment, so you don’t have to worry too much about treating her with children’s gloves. One of the best things about her is how festive she looks, her thick layer of crystalline resin looks like fresh frost. Her body is very relaxed and very suitable for use at night or before going to bed. This baby’s THC level was about 25% again, so she was hit hard. For beginners, this is a good pressure, as long as they want to sleep directly after smoking. Another strain that is easy to grow, very suitable for winter challenges. This strain will bloom in an astonishing 7 weeks and is very suitable for indoor or outdoor winter growth.

Wild rose

This strain comes from a combination of beautiful mountain strains, namely Rosetta Stone and Pig. Because she is a mountain plant, she is hardy and very suitable for growing in cold weather, whether indoors or outdoors. Her uniqueness is definitely a selling point, especially she combines the delicious sweetness and smell of different fresh fruits. Her excitement is very relaxing, and it is recommended to use it after a long cold day. Whether you have been working without seeing the sun, or hiking in the cold winter, you can sit in your favorite chair for a cup of tea and reset. Although very relaxed, she is still dominated by alfalfa, so she won’t put you to sleep right away. Her THC content is usually high, so it is very suitable for experienced smokers. She is also a winner and won the first prize for interior design at the 9th Cannarian Cannabis Cup in 2009. Her flowering time is only 9 weeks, and it can be planted indoors or outdoors in winter.

Chitral Kush, Pakistan

This is another gorgeous mountain strain, although it is the dominant strain of indica, it may require quite low temperatures. This is a pure Pakistani landrace strain, so she comes directly from the mountains. These types of strains can adapt well to different growth environments, so Pakistan Chitral Kush is an ideal winter strain. Another important aspect of this strain is that it is accustomed to temperature changes. If the temperature changes more than 4 degrees Celsius, most strains will become a mess, but this plant will not. When it grows in cold weather, it will also show a lovely purple color, which really brings out sparkling resin in the late flowering stage. This is a strain for indica lovers, its effect is very powerful, it is a fantastic night strain. Chitral Kush in Pakistan has a flowering time of 56-63 days, which is very suitable for indoor or outdoor planting in winter.

Kush

Let’s end with another classic strain that can adapt to almost any growth environment. This strain is very powerful, dominated by indica, and is most often referred to as a medicinal strain, but it is also popular with casual smokers. OG Kush is a small but highly effective plant that can grow well in all weather conditions. If you are a drug user who wants to grow in the winter, this may be a good choice, especially if you have Parkinson’s disease, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder. The effect is very cold and drowsy. If you have trouble falling asleep due to pain or mental health problems, this can be a lot of pressure on bedtime. OG Kush’s THC level is usually quite high, about 24%, so it may be a little overwhelming for beginners. The taste and aroma of pine, lemon, wood, citrus and diesel are very suitable for winter. The flowering time of this strain is only 8 weeks, and it can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse in winter.
