Cleanspark, a Bitcoin mining company with a focus on sustainability, announced that it will launch a 20 MW project at its Norcross Bitcoin mining facility, where miners will be immersed in cooling. The company will house more than 5,900 miners in the facility, who will be submerged in biodegradable liquid tanks. Cleanspark stated that this will help them save energy and increase the hash rate they obtain from miners.

Cleanspark uses immersion cooling for new facilities

Cleanspark is a Bitcoin mining company focused on sustainable development. Announce It will start to use alternative and more effective methods to cool its miners. The company revealed that it has established a 20 MW immersion cooling program in its established Norcross Bitcoin mining facility and is one of the first mining companies to implement such technology on a large scale.

The company will organize nearly 6,000 miners and immerse them in 180 liquid tanks distributed throughout the mining facility. Cleanspark does not need to modify anything to install the required water tank, which is the advantage of immersion cooling. Each tank will hold 33 Antminer S19j Pro mining machines.

According to the public relations statement, this move will enable the company to obtain better performance from miners, while saving energy and reducing power consumption by 20%.

Immersion cooling to absorb steam

Although liquid cooling is not new in the mining industry, and some small miners have managed to build their own immersed mining systems, it has only recently begun to implement this solution in larger-scale mining operations. This is related to the benefits that these companies can now obtain by implementing this new technology in existing data centers.

According to Zach Bradford, CEO of Cleanspark:

We are constantly looking for ways to make our operations more sustainable and productive, while achieving optimal performance. Deploying an environmentally friendly cooling technology while improving the economic efficiency of our Bitcoin mining business is an obvious choice for us.

company get The Norfolk data center was in August, and it is hoped that this plan can be completed before the end of the year. This is not the only project where large mining companies have recently announced the use of immersion cooling.Riot Blockchain, a NASDAQ-listed mining company, recently Announce It will use immersion cooling to cool half of its new facility in Texas, an operation involving 46,000 miners.
