Bitcoin mining companies are now increasingly experimenting with immersion cooling, which allows them to obtain more computing power from existing miners. According to industry insiders, this cooling alternative will become mainstream in the future, as leading companies are already using these cooling devices and transforming them into existing mining operations.

Immersion cooling attracts the attention of miners

Miners are experimenting with another less used equipment maintenance method called immersion cooling. This cooling process involves immersing an existing mining machine in a storage tank filled with liquid substances, which can dissipate heat from the mining equipment more quickly. This has advantages over air cooling: maintenance time is reduced due to less dirt clogging the machine, and performance is better.

The process by which miners configure these machines to work under default specifications is called overclocking. One of the main problems with this is that it generates more heat, which will shorten the life of the equipment in the long run. However, the use of new methods can alleviate this adverse effect. Nishant Sharma, founder of Blocksbridge, a mining consulting company, Announce:

It looks like a fish tank with machines inside. Sooner or later, all big miners will conduct large-scale immersion mining.

Large mining companies have been wading

Although this new cooling method is far from becoming mainstream, some large companies have planned to introduce it to large-scale mining operations. This is the case with Riot Blockchain, a Bitcoin mining company listed on the Nasdaq with a valuation of more than 4 billion U.S. dollars. Announce Its next mining in October Operation Texas will use 200 megawatts (half of its available power) for mining operations with immersion cooling.

The company stated:

As far as the company knows, immersion cooling technology has never been deployed in Bitcoin mining on this scale before.

46,000 ASIC miners will be housed in two buildings designed to integrate storage tanks used to cool the rigs. This recent trend has begun to affect other markets. The demand for coolants used in these applications has grown substantially. David Sundin, co-founder and chief scientist of Engineered Fluids, a Texas company, said:

In the past six or seven months, our business has grown by 500%. It just crossed the roof.
