Texas – A Union Pacific freight train derailment caused a stir recently, after the 64-car train went off the tracks amid heavy flood rains south of Dallas. Reuters reported that the train was carrying cement and traveling from Midlothian to Houston.

Jeff DeGraff, a spokesman for Union Pacific Railroad, is quoted as stating of the incident during an interview with CNN, “This train was carrying cement, which is not hazardous material… We are keeping an eye out for diesel.”

The state was impacted by heavy flood rains overnight, leading to the evacuation of some Navarro County residents, where the derailment took place.

Video footage of the incident show multiple cars turned on their sides while submerged partially in flood waters.
