Houston, TX – Royals player Salvador Perez was recently involved in a wrong-way car crash while being transported to a popular food truck in Houston. Sporting News reported that the accident occurred after the catcher’s team took a loss to the Astros in Game 3 of the AL Division Series.

Perez and his agent were traveling to Sabor Venezolano in an Uber vehicle, when the driver attempted to go straight in a left-turn lane, and collided with another vehicle. The car was stated to have been full of Astros fans who were initially upset until they saw who was in the Uber ride.

Perez’s agent Rafa Nieves is quoted as stating of the incident “They were barking at our driver and then Salvy gets out of the car… They are shocked and like, 'Oh my God, it's Salvador Perez!’ They asked for pictures and didn't care about the car anymore. We are just happy everybody is OK.”

A photo taken after the incident was subsequently posted to social media.
