US – A recall has been issued for more than 9,000 cases of Bonduelle frozen corn due to possible listeria contamination. According to a CNN report, the FDA released a statement on its website saying a product had tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes in Tennessee. The recall also involves products produced in Florida, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and other states.

Bonduelle USA recently released a statement about the recall saying, “The company has not received any complaints in relation to this product and is not aware of any illnesses associated with the product to date.”

Listeria is a pathogenic bacterium that exhibits resistance to extreme hot and cold. In humans an infection of the bacterium causes listeriosis. Approximately 1,600 people become ill with the condition annually as noted in the report, with an estimated 16 percent of cases resulting in death.
