U.S. – Japanese automaker Nissan has initiated a recall on thousands of its vehicles in connection with a console panel issue. According to an Associated Press report, the company is recalling approximately 300,000 of its Versa and Versa Note cars so that adjustments can be made to a console panel that could lead to slowed braking speed if caught by the driver’s shoe.

The carmaker says that there have been no deaths reported in connection with the issue; however, there has been a report of a related accident injury.

The company says that the edge of the lower trim panel on the console can catch the edge of a driver’s shoe in rare instances.

Nissan North America Inc. has said that it will give notification to dealers and owners and make modifications to the console at no charge.

The recall involves models of the Versa sedan made between June 9, 2011 and March 11, 2015, and models of the Versa Note that were made between April 23, 2013 and March 11, 2015.
