El Paso – Two El Paso police officers accused of being involved in a cover up in connection with a multi-vehicle crash have faced disciplinary action. A KFOX14 Investigates report says witnesses said that one of the officers ran a red light and subsequently attempted to cover it up. Never before seen video of the incident, which occurred on August 15 of last year was recently obtained by a KFOX14 reporter.

At the time, multiple witnesses claimed that the police officer ran the red light; however, the information was not put into the police report. Officers reportedly blamed another driver, who was issued a ticket for speeding and another one for running a red light.

The driver, Allyson Granados, is quoted as stating to the news source, whose news story about the incident later led to an internal affairs investigation of the circumstances of the crash “I don't know how many times I've broken down and cried because I’m going up against the Police Department.”

Internal affairs concluded their report in February, deeming allegations against the two officers to be true. The officers still maintain; however, that they were not involved in any cover up.

The victims in the crash had not been compensated by the city for related damages at the time of the report.
