Texas – The trial of an Arlington man suspected in a hit and run crash has begun. As reported by CBSDFW.com, the man Omar Mohammed, stands accused of trying to leave the country after hitting an elderly man who was reportedly left for dead following the accident.

The accident victim, 73-year-old Terry Pinkston, was crossing a street in Arlington last year, when he was hit by a motor vehicle. The driver was subsequently tracked down while the man was recovering from his injuries in a hospital.

Mohammed was reportedly attempting to board a plane when he was arrested over the incident. He was set to take a flight to Amman, Jordan.

Police had received a tip that a broken windshield had been repaired on his vehicle the day of the accident.

Opening arguments in Mohammed’s trial were heard on Tuesday.
