Houston – A Harris County sheriff’s deputy sustained injuries in an accident that occurred while he was en route to the location of a police chase. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the deputy and his K-9 partner were going to assist in preventing a suspect accused of driving a stolen vehicle from running away in the event he attempted to evade police on foot.

The deputy’s car swerved to avoid hitting a car that had pulled out from a side street, and then slammed into a power pole. His vehicle reportedly flipped on its side and ran into multiple trees.

The deputy is stated to have sustained a broken arm and shoulder injury in the accident. The dog was uninjured, but was taken to a veterinarian to be examined.
