Los Angeles – Popular ecommerce website Etsy recently lost its nearly two million likes on Facebook, but managed to subsequently generate them back. As reported by WebProNews, the issue occurred several days after the social media company made an announcement that it was making changes to how “likes” would be counted for pages.

With the changes, Facebook noted that memorialized and voluntarily deactivated accounts would be removed from the counts. The company claimed that audience data would become more significant to businesses and data would remain up-to-date and consistent with the change.

According to a CrowdTange report, the changes resulted in Etsy going from nearly two million likes to 290 initially; however, the site was back up to 1,919,663 likes by the time WebProNews released an update on the story.
