Los Angeles – British journalist and television personality Katie Hopkins recently sparked controversy over comments she made about singer Kelly Clarkson’s weight after she made an appearance on “Graham Norton Live.” As reported by WebProNews, Hopkins continued her criticism even after receive backlash for her tweets.

Hopkins is quoted as stating of Clarkson, “Kelly Clarkson is now a chunky monkey, if we’re putting it kindly. She does look like she’s eaten her backup singers. My advice: she needs to get out there with her stroller and do some pushing and get some of that weight off. That’s not baby weight. That’s carrot cake…you’re supporting Kelly Clarkson because everybody likes to have a fat friend, because the great thing about a fat friend is it makes you feel slimmer.”

She subsequently defended her comments, suggesting that people in the public eye accept others being critical about their physical appearance.

Clarkson reportedly responded to the fat shaming effort by stating, “I’m awesome! It doesn’t bother me. It’s a free world. Say what you will.”
