Mother reports son after police post his photo on Facebook

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – A mother turned her son into authorities after spotting his photo on the Facebook page of Casselberry police. As reported by WFTV, police posted surveillance photos of a suspect in connection with a robbery on the social media site.

The suspect had reportedly stolen $670 worth of PlayStation controllers from a retail store in Casselberry. Police say they were contacted by a woman who saw the Facebook post and said the suspect was her son.

As further noted in the report, police arrested 18-year-old Joel Brown in connection with the theft. He was stated to have been wearing the same sweatshirt as shown in the surveillance footage. Five of the stolen controllers were also recovered.

Brown was reportedly charged with retail theft and shoplifting.
