Colorado – An official report from the National Transportation Safety Board has been released on the plane crash outside of Denver that resulted in the deaths of two men last year. As reported by WebProNews, the report indicates that selfies were a likely contributor to the crash.

As noted in the report, a GoPro recorder was found near the crash scene.

The NTSB is quoted as stating in the report of investigative findings, “The GoPro recordings revealed that the pilot and various passengers were taking self-photographs with their cell phones and, during the night flight, using the camera’s flash function during the takeoff roll, initial climb, and flight in the traffic pattern.”

The agency is further quoted as citing the official probable cause of the accident as “The pilot’s loss of control and subsequent aerodynamic stall due to spatial disorientation in night instrument meteorological conditions. Contributing to the accident was the pilot’s distraction due to his cell phone use while maneuvering at low-altitude.”
