New York Giants co-owner dies after injurious fall

New York – New York Giants co-owner Ann Mara has died after suffering an injury caused by a fall at her home on January 18 when she slipped on an ice patch. As reported by WebProNews, Mara died Sunday as a result of complications from the head injury she sustained in the fall.
Mara’s son John, is quoted in the report as saying in a statement released about his mother’s passing, “I am sad to say that our mother has passed away. She has been the leader of our family in every way, and we will miss her dearly.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also released a statement following her death saying, “Mrs. Mara was a tower of strength, dignity and inspiration for her family and all of us in the NFL. Her family and the Giants organization have always reflected Mrs. Mara’s competitive spirit, integrity, and wonderful sense of humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with John Mara and the entire Mara family.”
Mara, who was married to Wellington Mara from 1954 until his death in 2005, is the grandmother of actresses Kate Mara and Rooney Mara.
