Bridgeview, Illinois – A junior high school teacher accused of having sex with her former students was recently arrested and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. As reported by WLS, 30-year-old teacher and coach Cara Labus was charged on four counts over incidents that purportedly involved two victims whose ages ranged from 14 to 16.

According to prosecutors, Labus met the alleged victims while working at Jerling Junior High School. The sexual encounters reportedly took place between 2008 and 2011. Police were notified about the incidents last month.

A spokesperson for Joliet Public Schools District 86 is quoted by WLS as releasing the statement, “The District was served with a Condition of Bail notice for one of our teachers at Hufford Junior High School late this afternoon. One bail condition provides that the teacher is not to have “contact with anyone under the age of 18 without supervision.” Based on this information, the teacher will not be permitted to be at school indefinitely.”

Labus is expected to return to court February 23, after being ordered held on a $150,000 bond.
