New York – Actor Michael Douglas was recently announced by the Genesis Prize Foundation as the recipient of an award that merits a $1 million prize. As reported by the LA Times, Douglas was announced as the foundation’s second recipient of the honor, presented in celebration of “the richness and diversity of Jewish culture.”

As noted in the report, the award will be given to the actor in June at a ceremony to be held in Jerusalem. The Israeli prime minister will present the honor.

Stan Polovets, co-founder and chairman of the foundation, is quoted as stating that Douglas was chosen for the award based on “his professional achievements and for his passion for his Jewish heritage and the Jewish state.”
