Arizona – Prosecutors have sought a delay in the trial to determine whether Jodi Arias will receive the death penalty after being convicted of the murder of Travis Alexander. As reported by WebProNews, the attorneys sought time to interview a witness who had access to Alexander’s laptop.

As noted in the report, Arias’ lawyers are seeking to convince the jury that she should not receive the death penalty for the killing due to her purported mental health issues. The attorneys have claimed that files on the laptop that may have helped her during her initial trial were destroyed by authorities.

The second penalty phase trial for Arias began in October. Rumors have circulated that Arias may take the witness stand.
