Virginia – The 95-year-old Virginia newly wed, whose marriage made headlines following a court battle, has died after his longtime companion was taken away. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Eddie Harrison passed away after battling influenza, weeks after his wife was taken to Florida by family members.

Harrison had recently wed 96-year-old Edith Hill, who had been his companion for 10 years. The marriage was challenged in court after one of Hill’s daughters alleged it would present issues regarding the allocation of her estate and that her mother was legally incapacitated.

Rebecca Wright, another one of Hill’s daughters who had previously cared for the couple, is quoted as stating of Harrison, “He lived for her, and she lived for him. It’s the love story of the century.”
