Los Angeles – Yahoo is shutting down additional services following a series of shut-downs enacted since new CEO Marissa Mayer took on her position in 2012. As reported by WebProNews, the new round of changes include closing genre-specific media sites in areas such as Malaysia and Indonesia as well as multiple regional Yahoo News and Celebrity properties.

Yahoo is quoted as stating in its announcement of the new series of shut downs, “This month and in Q1 2015, we will be closing some of our regional, genre-specific media sites and automatically redirecting users in these markets to the Yahoo homepage… The infinite news stream on the Yahoo homepage will feature relevant local and global content from Yahoo editorial and our regional content providers.”

As noted in the report, Yahoo will also shut down Yahoo Classic Games, Alerts.Yahoo.com as well as other properties.
