Los Angeles – A young girl who stole thousands of dollars from her grandmother before attempting to hail a cab across the country has been returned home safely. As reported by ArkansasMatters.com, when the family of Alexis Waller discovered she was missing, they initially thought she had been kidnapped.

Brent Waller, Alexis’ father, is quoted in the report as stating, “You always just think the worst…I] just thought some guy had come and scooped her up.”

Alexis, who had stolen $10,000 from her grandmother’s sock drawer, was reportedly attempting to go see a boy she had previously met on a vacation. She was located after police tracked her call to the cab company, and subsequently received information about where she was. Her parents then drove to pick her up.

Brent Waller is further quoted as stating of their relief that she was found, “You have the rest of your life to punish her. You just want to hug her and just love her because you got her back and that’s what’s important.”
