Bahamas – Popular evangelical pastor Myles Munroe was killed Sunday in a plane crash in the Bahamas. As reported by Reuters, authorities continued their investigation into the crash on Monday in which eight people were killed total. Inclement weather is suspected to have been a factor.

Among the other people killed in the crash were Munroe’s wife and top deputy. The plane was stated to have exploded on impact after hitting a crane while approaching landing at the Grand Bahama airport in Freeport.

Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie, is quoted as stating of Munroe’s death, “It is utterly impossible to measure the magnitude of Dr. Munroe’s loss to the Bahamas and to the world… He was indisputably one of the most globally recognizable religious figures our nation has ever produced.”

Munroe, the youngest person to receive the Order of the British Empire has authored several books and traveled regularly internationally.
