Pennsylvania – A man has been charged in connection with the overdose of a child who was staying at his home. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), police charged Victor W. Hare III, 58 with child endangerment alleging that he allowed the 9-year-old boy to stay at his home with substances the child had previously abused being “readily available.”

The 9-year-old, who was stated to have used alcohol and the prescription drug oxycodone in the past, died of an apparent drug overdose.

Point Township Police are quoted as writing in an affidavit, “The defendant advised that the victim told him he was using pills, … marijuana and alcohol… Defendant said he heard this from the victim repeatedly over the last couple of weeks.”

Hare, who police say has had multiple felony convictions, was being held in county jail Tuesday.
