South Carolina – A student who attended Clemson University recently died after a fall from a cruise ship. As reported by Fox Carolina news, the university released a statement Tuesday announcing the death of 20-year-old Kendall Wernet.

Police in South Florida say the student fell after climbing the ship’s forward mast. He died Monday morning after being taken to Ryder Trauma Center.

No foul play was reportedly suspected in the accident, according to Miami-Dade police.

Clemson University Dean of Students Shannon Finning is quoted as stating of the student’s death, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Clemson student Kendall Wernet, a junior management major from Arden, N.C…. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends, and we stand ready to help them through this difficult time.”
