New Jersey – Attorneys for retail giant Walmart have alleged that actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was partly responsible for the critical injuries he sustained in a fatal 18-wheeler accident involving one of their drivers in June because he was not wearing a seatbelt. As reported by CBS News, the actor responded to the claims in a statement, saying he was in disbelief over the company’s assertions.

Morgan is quoted as saying in the statement, “After I heard what Walmart said in court I felt I had to speak out… I can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I’m fighting hard every day to get back.”

Morgan, 45, spent over a month in rehab following the accident. The driver of the Walmart truck, Kevin Roper, has been charged with multiple counts of assault by auto and death by auto. He is currently awaiting trial.
