New York – Dawn Nguyen has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for her role in the circumstances leading up to a 2012 shooting spree in Webster, New York. As reported by WebProNews, the 25-year-old woman was accused of providing the shooter, 63-year-old William Spengler, with access to the firearms used in carrying out the crime.

As noted in the report, two firefighters were killed and two others injured in the shooting spree. Spengler is believed to have deliberately set his home on fire and then ambushed responding firefighters in the Christmas Eve attack. He is stated to have subsequently taken his own life on a Lake Ontario beach.

Spengler, who had previously served 17 years in prison for beating his grandmother to death with a hammer, could not legally purchase or own the weapons he used in the attack. Nguyen lied on paperwork when making the weapons purchase for him, prosecutors say.
