Ray Rice cut from NFL team after video of elevator argument released

09/08/2014 // West Palm Beach, Florida, US // JusticeNewsFlash // Justice News Flash // (press release)

Baltimore – Ray Rice’s contract with the Baltimore Ravens has been terminated following the release of a video, showing him and his then fiancé in an argument in an elevator. As reported by Reuters, the video, which was published by TMZ, shows Rice punching Janay Palmer and dragging her from the elevator while she was unconscious.

Palmer and Rice have married since the incident. Rice was previously indicted by a grand jury for third-degree assault. The charges were dropped after Palmer refused to provide testimony against her husband and the 27-year-old agreed to court-supervised counseling. He was suspended by the NFL for two games at the time and fined $500,000.

Since the released of the video, Rice has been suspended from the league indefinitely.

The Baltimore Ravens released a statement Monday saying, “The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of RB Ray Rice this afternoon.”
